Beyond "She was Nice": Making the Most of Student Feedback
Most instructors have experienced receiving maddeningly inane, unconstructive, or contradictory CTEC comments. What are we supposed to take away from such comments, and how can we encourage students to provide more useful feedback? Encouraging students to approach giving feedback as a reciprocal and reflective practice can improve the relevance and usefulness of that feedback.
In this workshop, participants will discuss strategies for responding to and/or incorporating student feedback, particularly when it is frustrating or conflicting. In addition to considering a variety of evaluation techniques beyond CTECs, participants will explore methods to prepare students to provide constructive feedback.
