Buffett Global Climate Change Governance Reading Group

Buffett Global Climate Change Governance Reading Group is a series organized by the Buffett Global Climate Change Governance group. The goal of the reading group sessions is to share perspectives on important aspects of climate change governance among an interdisciplinary faculty group, and to stimulate research and policy oriented conversations among a diverse interdisciplinary group.

The theme for the first meeting is Harvey, Irma, Sonoma Wildfires: How Should We Think About Extreme Weather and Public Policy in An Era Climate Change? The discussion will be led by Kimberly Gray, Chair of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. To access the background reading, please email the Graduate Coordinator, Grace Augustine, at g-augustine@kellogg.northwestern.edu to receive excerpts from a recently book, The Water Will Come, by Jeff Goodell. The reading provides everyone with a common starting point for the workshop conversation.

The session will take place Monday, December 4 from 3-4:30pm at the Buffett Institute Conference Room, 1902 Sheridan Rd. We will discuss science and policy questions around extreme weather events from 3-4pm, followed by time for discussing the agenda and format for subsequent sessions until 4:30pm for those who are interested.

The workshop is open to all interested faculty and graduate students, so please forward this invitation to others that may be interested.
