The Hopkins-Nanjing Center was founded in 1986 as a multicultural, bilingual educational collaboration between the Johns Hopkins University and Nanjing University. Students study Sino-global relations in a supportive bilingual community with a deep commitment to open academic inquiry. American and other international students take the majority of their courses in Mandarin, while studying and living alongside their Chinese peers. Programs of study include a one-year Certificate, a two-year Master of Arts in International Studies, and a Certificate + Johns Hopkins SAIS Master of Arts that combines time in Nanjing and Washington, DC.

The deadline for students to apply for the Hopkins-Nanjing Center’s graduate certificate or master’s degree programs is February 1, 2019Guaranteed scholarships are offered for all students who apply for financial aid by the deadline.

Also, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program recipients are eligible to apply for the $10,000 US-China Exchange scholarship, which is offered to alumni of U.S. government supported programs for Chinese language study in China. The rigorous training provided by the CLS Program helps prepare students for the language-intensive coursework at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center; CLS alumni are invited to apply.
