Office hours provide a unique opportunity to meet students where they are—to adjust an explanation, work through example problems, or pose a rhetorical question to meet each individual’s learning style and level of expertise. Although reaching each student in a large class in such a customized way may be infeasible, virtual teaching tools can capture key beneficial elements of these in-person interactions and enable self-directed learning. In this round table, Joshua Leonard will discuss strategies and experiences with using these approaches to make learning more effective, efficient, and (just maybe) more enjoyable.
