Hidden in plain sight: HathiTrust Digital Library and Emergency Access

Hidden in plain sight: HathiTrust Digital Library and Emergency Access

This session will introduce the HathiTrust Digital Library and the special provisions Hathi has put in place to help researchers during the Covid-19 crisis. The HathiTrust is a partnership of academic and research libraries, offering a collection of millions of titles digitized from libraries around the world. In addition to the access Hathi regularly provides to over 5 million volumes held in the public domain, Northwestern faculty, students and staff now, through the Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS), have digital access to in-copyright works that the Northwestern libraries physically hold. Workshop leaders will provide an overview of ETAS and what this means for researchers as well as background on the types of materials that can be found in the HathiTrust; tips on accessing Hathi, downloading materials, creating and saving collections, and more.

This workshop is limited to Northwestern University users with a current NetID.

Presented by Geoff Morse, Interim Head of Research Services, and Liz Hamilton, Copyright Librarian
