Integrating Technologies into the Digital Classroom

Integrating Technologies into the Digital Classroom

Workshop Description:

With remote learning presenting new challenges for us as educators, how can we try to maintain a sense of collaborative and student-centered learning in our courses? Are you interested in integrating technology thoughtfully into your (Zoom) classroom? This workshop aims to provide participants with multiple ways in which technology can enhance active learning across disciplines. We will introduce several technology tools—including Kahoot, PollEverywhere, Google Slides, and more—and discuss best practices in using these various platforms. Participants will leave with a foundational knowledge of multiple tools, a framework for when to use them, and experience using these tools to foster collaborative in-class activities.

By the end of the workshops, participants:

- Acquire practical knowledge of at least four technological tools for collaboration that can be applied in both physical and digital learning environments.
- Determine appropriate contexts for using technology in the classroom.
- Develop an effective teaching activity using a technological tool of their choice.
