Chris Moore of the Chicago Cubs Discusses Predictive Analytics in Baseball

Chris Moore, director of research and development with the Chicago Cubs, will be in conversation with Economics professor Jeff Ely concerning the use of analytics in baseball, the 2016 World Series and other baseball-related issues.

Chris is responsible for the research and analytics functions within baseball operations. Chris joined the Cubs after the 2013 season, tasked with building a new analytics department to aid in front office decision making, ranging from player evaluation to on-field strategy. Prior to joining the Cubs, Chris earned a PhD in neuroscience from Princeton University, focusing on computational methods and machine learning, which he applied to brain science. After graduating, he spent three years building algorithmic trading strategies for WorldQuant LLC before finally turning his analytic approach toward baseball.
