Advanced Practicum in Online Teaching

The practicum planning team is pleased to present the Advanced Practicum in Online Teaching. The Advanced Practicum builds on the Practicum in Foundations of Online Teaching and will include a series of one-week intensive explorations of related topics.

Advanced Practicum: Assessment and Academic Integrity

The first advanced practicum offering, Advanced Practicum: Assessment and Academic Integrity, is intended for Northwestern instructors. Participants will explore tools and strategies for developing alternative methods of assessment; consider how to ensure assessments are accessible, inclusive, and equitable; and explore how to create a course culture that promotes academic integrity. Participants may range from those having some experience teaching online to those having a great deal of experience. The session is planned as a one-week, intensive experience and participants can expect to spend 8 to 10 hours on the course.

The first session of Advanced Practicum: Assessment and Academic Integrity is scheduled for December 7 -11, 2020. (Registration has now closed.)

Winter 2021 session is scheduled for March 1 to 5. (Registration has now closed.)

To prepare for the Advanced Practicum, participants can sign up for a) Introduction to Canvas; b) Introduction to Zoom; and 3) Grading and Assignments in Canvas at https://digitallearning.northwestern.edu/canvas/canvas-workshops.

The Advanced Practicum, like the Foundations Practicum, will have both core and optional sessions, as well as preparation expectations for each of the core sessions.
