Facilitating discussion in synchronous and asynchronous environments

How can we create online learning environments in which students can still engage effectively with one another? How can we ask students to share their thoughts and perspectives about course content in meaningful ways, using both synchronous and asynchronous methods? In this session, strategies for enhancing synchronous discussions in Zoom as well as how to use online discussion boards effectively. By the end of the session, participants will be able to develop effective discussion questions and apply key strategies to their own learning contexts.

This workshop is a part of the Practicum for Online Teaching which is a partnership between AccessibleNU, the Libraries, the School of Professional Studies, the Searle Center for Advancing Learning & Teaching, and Northwestern Information Technology.
