How to Navigate the Northwestern with regard to SBIRs/STTRs

What Steps Should I Take at the University as It Relates to SBIR/STTR Grants?

Northwestern is committed to scientific discovery and advancing new innovations into the marketplace. However, it is critical that all Northwestern parties maintain a balance between promoting this commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship with protecting assets that belong to the university and maintaining the integrity and objectivity of University research. As you plan to apply for or receive funding from SBIR/STTR grants, it is critical that you consider several university resources. A Northwestern Panel representing Innovations and New Ventures (INVO), Conflict of Interest (COI), Sponsored Research (SR) and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) will share their respective perspectives on how to ensure that policies and processes at the university are managed properly. A Q&A session will allow you to ask questions directly to the panelists. The following key points will be covered:

- IP considerations (INVO)
- Conflict of Interest considerations (COI)
- SBIR/STTR Award management considerations (SR)
- Human subjects research considerations (IRB)

This seminar is part of 5-part webinar series covering key elements of SBIRs/STTRs and how it relates to those at Northwestern University. The talks are open to all Northwestern faculty, post-docs, students and staff.

Other SBIR/STTR webinars may be found here.
