Get Help with Common Canvas Questions Quickly

The Canvas Support Chatbot is an automated chat tool created by Northwestern IT Teaching & Learning Technologies. It has been designed to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Canvas at Northwestern. The chatbot specializes in enrollment-related inquiries, but it can also answer questions about other Northwestern-specific Canvas issues.

Additionally, the Canvas Chatbot has the ability to search Instructure's Canvas Guides and provide links to the most relevant guides related to an inquiry. If the chatbot cannot answer a question, it can create a ticket with the Northwestern IT Support Center and send a support request to the appropriate team for further help.

Finding the Canvas Support Chatbot
The Canvas Chatbot is the first of its kind at Northwestern. We encourage you to test it out and see what you think. Transcripts of conversations with the chatbot will be analyzed to improve its effectiveness. Improvements and updates to the chatbot are being made regularly throughout the 2018-2019 academic year.

Instructors, students, and staff can access the chatbot by clicking on the Help icon in the main left navigation in Canvas and selecting the link to Chat with Canvas Support Chatbot. The chatbot will work in the Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari web browsers; use of other browsers is not recommended at this time as they are not supported.
